When a child is absent due to illness or some other legitimate reason, it is important that the school is notified by telephone or letter addressed to the headteacher. The school is required by the DfE to publish the percentage of children who have been absent from school without permission. If it is necessary for your child to attend a doctor, dentist or hospital for treatment during the school day, you should notify us prior to the appointment and then collect your child from, and return your child to, the main reception area.
Headteachers are only able to authorise absence from school in exceptional circumstances. In making a request for an authorised absence from school you will need to explain why the circumstances are exceptional. Please note there is no general right to authorise absence for a family holiday and if you take your child out of school without permission the absence will be unauthorised.
First aid is given in the event of minor accidents and if further treatment is deemed necessary the school will contact you. If a visit to Accident & Emergency is necessary and you cannot be reached, your child will be taken by two members of staff to Haslemere Hospital.
After School Care
Liphook Junior School provides access to both after school and holiday time childcare via a local company called KOOSA Kids. KOOSA Kids provide a great service both for working parents who require holiday and after school childcare and those parents that simply want their children to have access to some really fun things to do, outside of school time.
Should you deliver and collect your child by car, please take extreme care as the road is quite narrow and very busy. Please be thoughtful where you choose to park so that no child is put at unnecessary risk and local residents are not inconvenienced.
All cheques should be made payable to 'Liphook Junior School'.
Jewellery is not permitted with the exception of small stud earrings which must be removed for PE and Games. This is a Hampshire County Council ruling and children must be able to remove their earrings themselves.
School lunches cost £2.10 and are paid for in advance, either daily, weekly or by the half term. Payments may be made online, or cheques should be made payable to 'Liphook Junior School'. Menus are available in the school foyer, and can be downloaded from the School Lunches page. Children who prefer to bring packed lunches also eat in the school hall. A suitable lunch box should be provided and a plastic drinks container used.
The school day begins at 8.55am although children are allowed to enter school from 8.40am onwards. Lunch for the children is between 12.20pm and 1.10pm. The children have a playtime from 10.35am–10.50am. School finishes at 3.25pm.
Sickness and Medication
- Parents are asked to supply a telephone number at which they can be contacted and it is important the office is advised of any change in circumstances.
- Please do not send children to school if they are unwell.
- Medicine is administered in school only if prescribed by a doctor.
- Inhalers prescribed for asthma are used by those children who need them under supervision of an adult. Epipens are used on the advice of a doctor.
- If your child has any serious allergies please notify the school office.
